xfx5850 black edition or EAH5850 DirectCU/2DIS/1GD5

Thread Starter
I have a choice between the 2 cards and not sure wich one is better. xfx has a poor track record of late but comes pre clocked. Black Edition has core clock of 765 MHz vs. the normal 725 MHz.
-Black Edition has memory clock of 1125Mhz(4.5Gbps) vs. the normal 1000Mhz(4.0Gbps but uses the same stock fan that came on the ref.model.
The asus EAH5850 DirectCU/2DIS/1GD5 has a better track record.but lower clock.
the 2 offered is a replacement for a reference xfx5850 and I'd like some help choosing.

Asus all the way. who cares about stock overclocks, you can overclock it yourself with afterburner or such.

get the reference- you can change voltages that way
DirectCu cards are pointless tbh if you can oc yourself which is just ridiculosly easy with afterburner as mentioned before.

EDIT: just realised you wont get a refernce either way- Stick to the Asus one then coz u can change voltages using smartdoctor i believe but with the black edition i think voltages are locked. correct me if im wrong

For the warranty I would go with XFX but im pretty sure that the Asus performance is better than the XFX even if its a BE.

Good Luck !

You can adjust voltage with the DirectCu in Afterburner, I used to own the same exact card. I just have to find the thread with the fix for Afterburner....
