Ultra Kaze 3000 question.

Thread Starter
I was about to buy a fan controller. My computer is water cooled, but I will leave the fan questions up to the Air Boys! I am using 3 UK 3000 RPM fans on my 360 radiator. They are too loud. Would I be better off buying a Fan Controller and lowering the RPM of them down, or would I be better off investing my moola into some Gentle Typhoons to replace those? I run a high OC, but I could lose a little bit of cooling power and still be fine. I usually only play WoW. I render video sometimes, not often. Thanks for the help.

just get a fan controller and be done with it...

Ultra Kazes don't undervolt very well. I recommend waiting for these to be stocked. Static pressure is 5.08 mmH20 while an Ultra Kaze 3k is only just over 3 mmH20. Kazes are really cheap fans. I'd never own one.

I made the mistake a long time ago of buying these without a fan controller. It literally sounds like a jet airplane @ full speeds.

I would suggest getting a fan controller regardless and maybe looking into some quieter fans smile.gif

I use the motherboard to set UltraKaze @2000 rpm. It works fine and is much quieter than default. However, if you can find some high speed GTs in stock. They would be a better option for rads.

All three of my ultra kaze 3000's clicked when under-volted. I wouldn't recommend it. Go with some san ace or panaflo's.

Lots of mixed opinions. I mean, if I got say a Lamptron FC-5, would I be able to take the UKs down to 2000 RPMs just fine or is that stretching it?

Quick question OP, do you have your fans laying down (horizontal)? If so, it doesn't matter if you do get a fan controller or the fan SickStew suggested as they will wear out quickly → sleeve bearing.

I agree with these guys. And I do have my Ultra Kazes hooked up to a fan controller. Unless if your computer is next to your ear, those fans will click when undervolted and it will get annoying. I found out the hard way sad-smiley-002.gif. For me, my fans are in my case and under my desk so I can't hear the clicking
