I've got an Elite. Got it about 2 years ago and I've never had any problems. I think they solved most of the RROD issues after the white Premium Xbox with the Elite. I've got a bevy of friends with the Premium that have had there's crap out and just as many that have the Elite and have had no problems, so I'd say go Elite or better.

Just getting a console for one game though seems silly. To each his own, though, and if you've got the money to throw around then do it. If you see yourself with a future in console gaming, spend the money now to get a good model. I'd recommend the new 4GB Slim (I've got a 120GB hard drive and haven't downloaded anything other than installing Halo 3 onto the hard drive). If you're just going for one game, buy the cheapest used one you can find.
Isn't Halo 3 the one game your not supposed to install?

I would buy the Red 360 someone is selling on here for $170. Also the bad thing about the 4gb slim is the memory. If you play online the updates could fill that up in a heartbeat. If your using it for offline play only then get it.

Only if you exit your game and flush your cache inbetween every map rotation.

if you can take apart a PC, you can take apart an Xbox. Buy a broken rrod xbox for like 35 bucks, find a power cord and av cord + used controller for like an extra 40, and fix it up. There are tons of guides online. I used to fix xbox's on a daily basis. I'd say I made close to 500-600 dollars just posting on craigslist.
