at least 75% of FB is flooded with app messages, pointless status updates, and drama.
I'm on Facebook often and never use it for either of those purposes, and after hiding/blocking most "popular" apps I never seem them. It's a social network that allows easy communication between groups of friends/peers/targets of passive aggression...you know, kind of like a forum.

EDIT: Plus, why the bolding of my quote? Was your statement supposed to be an assertion that Facebook's entire userbase are in fact mindless zombies? o_O

Facebook is just the next myspace, it's not a big deal if people don't have one. You getting mad just because some of us think it's pointless is ridiculous.
I don't remember anyone stating it was a big deal if someone didn't have one. I actually remember saying something along the lines of there being legitimate reasons to not have one.

Most people that have over 200 friends don't know them all. Facebook is just another popularity contest.
Or...a means for communicating, sometimes with people you don't know in person. I sometimes talk to people I don't know personally on Facebook. Kind of like you talk to people you don't know personally here on OCN.

Off-topic: Is calling someone a child or mindless really necessary? I don't come to this website to hate on people, I come here for the tech damn it!
I generally agree. I was irritated by the dressing up of his cranky opinion as "brutal honesty."

Take your drama back to social networking WHERE IT BELONGS.
Indeed, I need more Lamebook quotes to submit.
