A magical Chip

Thread Starter
Did you ever buy a chip that seems to be like a Ferrari on a econocar budget?
I recently installed a phenom X II 960 BE, and was lucky to unlock into a quad. Now, whats special about this chip, is that I was able to push it to 4.0 all on auto, voltage of 1.356. no other adjustments other than ram timings. Now, I did build a machine for my brother, and unlocked his into a four core, X II 955 BE, but it was stable only to 3.5 no mater what I did.
Funny thing, both builds are identical, part for part.
I guess i just want to hear from other members if you ever bought that special chip in your builds past and present.

I have you tested to make sure you chip is stable at 4ghz.
Because I can post 4.6ghz if you really want me to, but it isn't stable by any means.
When you unlock a chip that doesn't make it a 960, that makes it a B60.
9xx series chips are already quads. so saying you have a 960 is incorrect.

You unlocked a Quad core into a Quad core? What?

A lot of the Phenom II X2 chips hit 4Ghz. Unlocked may be a different story, but auto usually bumps the voltage higher than it needs to be.

Anyway, it still sounds like a good chip. Congrats.

He meant a Phenom II x2, he just wrote it strangely. At least I think that is what he meant.
