Dr. Dre Beats VS. Sennheiser... the show down begins

Thread Starter
Alright, well there have been a lot of good deals recently and I went ahead and bought some beat solos, and a pair of Sennheiser HD595's.

I'll give my unbiased opinion here as Im not a hardcore audiophile or one at all... I just like things to sound good, and if you cant accept the fact that this is my opinion, someone who is just a dumb consumer giving his opinion on some great headphones then go make your own thread.

What I'll be testing:

Sennheiser: HD595's & RS 160's

Monster: Solo Beats by dr. dre
(corny name lol)

  • how they perform in game (without a sound card)
  • what they sound like with songs (mp3 no flac cause I dont have any, on a zune HD and my PC)
  • build quality
  • and just some general thoughts

Everything should come in tomorrow. I got next day shipping on the hd595's so stay tuned for the non audiophile review cool.gif

They were 100 bucks, and so were the hd 595's.

granted these wont have time to be 'burned in' but I'll follow up in like a few months. Cause I'll be giving the solos to my GF and she can use them cause I want the Senn's lol.

Your zune should be a good enough control variable for that anyways. I mean it's probably not going to be better then a sound card that costs half as much as the zune does in the first place, but they're still tons better then the bad onboards.

If the onboard sounds terrible on either of them though, you might have to leave it out of the testing as it wont give very good results.

well right now using my RS-160's for games/music on my PC it sounds pretty good. A little bit worse than my Zune, but still better than my PC speakers. I can hear things in games that I've never heard before redface.gif

I take it you just ordered these recently, and have to wait for them to arrive?

After seeing this thread, I just actually went to Amazon and ordered myself a pair, I love my 202's for their sound even if they are cheap, so I hope these will blow me away.

$117 isn't bad for what the reviews give these on multiple sites.
