[Geek.com] Russia to adopt Linux as national operating system by 2015 - Page 7

I like you used to think the MPC was "superior" but if you ever use mplayer or the front end SMPlayer with the right setting you will realize how bad MPC and all windows players are.

It is useless to respond to every quote if you agree with every point I made but disagree with the overall conclusion.

But I will do a quick one anyways cause I am sucker.

1. So if installing an OS is hard for anyone, then it that is a tie between MS and linux.
2. So if everyone keeps downloading porn even if they get viruses, then it would be better if they downloaded porn and didn't get viruses. Linux wins.
3. I have done multiple comparisons between MPC and VLC. The differences are minimal. And if you are talking about people who can't even install MS or Ubuntu... they probably don't know the difference between 480p and 1080p. And probably won't notice either.
4. Html5 you say? Then that is another tie between MS and Linux and another reason why the switch to linux for most people should be EASY.

And actually don't bother responding because it probably will be another thing like this:
Quote:
Exactly, but you have to spend money on hardware to install Linux on.
And ignoring the fact that the same goes for Windows.

He's not particularly genius. What he did wasn't anything new. He just applied Marxism ideology on a software license. Also the guy is a paranoid bum.
Okay, I have to disagree with you on both counts. Just because you release something or Linux, doesn't mean you need to release it under GNU GPL. There is plenty of non-free software on the linux market. A ton of drivers are closed source. There are also pay programs like Maya and a whole bunch of CAD programs. GNU/GPL is nice and most programmers in Linux stick to it but no one is forced to stick with it.

Also, Stallman is a genius. To be frank, he annoys the piss out of me sometimes. He has a huge ego (so does Linus for that matter) but they've earned it. They could have made a fortune like Gates, Woz and Jobs did but they didn't. Linus and RMS both live comfortably from what I gather but they didn't make billions. I would say they both realize that a OS' direction shouldn't be limited to to a few set of minds. Spreading is more important than money.

I still love using mugen. As long as I can still play mugen on my Ubuntu,..I'll be fine having my desktop for windows games. And my laptop for Business/Mugen gaming use.

True, it's cheaper to use something that's free. Than to keep making Windows any richer than it already is.

And lastly, I don't think Linux will ever be able to bribe developers the way Windows does. So that means I can honestly say that gaming on Linux isn't a draw back for me. It's an impossible, feat that I don't even bother whispering. Without the gaming, it's good.

Linux us like a Good looking wife that can't cook. Or an ok looking Wife that can cook better than your own mother. Either way, you've gotta give up something to get something.

Russia is one of the most powerful countries in the world.... There's really no room for debate, heh.

Either way, I don't see this thread lasting very long.. Too much politics.

Hey it's cool you use MUGEN. I was very into the community for a long time. Middle school up until senior year in high school. My name was archaikz and I helped the zgteam with several character projects as well as releasing the Goten(DBZ) character and several unfinished characters for our big dragonball z game project which never was finished.

As you know someone recently picked up the project from elecbyte. It's funny how they had the mugen linux version first and we gave them all that money to get visual studio and they never compiled a windows version and released it publicly. There was that leaked version that everyone used and obviously there is one now since someone took over the project.

Haha. I never "used" Mugen though. I only made characters. Only time I played was to test them out.
