460 hawk sli, huge FPS drop/lag on metro 2033

Thread Starter

SLI setup has been giving me a lot of head aches lately, and this is latest one I have found.. I tried to see what kind of improvement i get from hawk SLI, so restarted new game and ran it on high settings with all dx11 stuff on,

it's running okay but first part, after you open the gate manually and switch out your weapon to ak, FPS drops to 4fps or lower until I move away and turn away from the gun itself, and also happens as you can see in the video....

I haven't tried reinstalling driver, I'm using the 260.99, with SLI hack.

I can run metro 2033 bench mark just fine

and single card is also fine as well.

Tried checking your temperatures? If so, tried reinstalling a different driver version or driver sweeping and installing a fresh set of drivers?

Are You using EVGA Precision or afterburner by any chance?

The reason that I ask is I had a similar issue that looked Identical to what your video showed.

It Only happend with certain games and Always was because of Precision and or Afterburner.

When that happens what does Your GPU usage say it's at? When it's doing that and You check the GPU usage I am guessing it's very Low and very sporadic.. it was hard to see in the video but thats what it looked like was happening.. Usage down low around 35%-50% which is exactly what I went through with my GTX 260's... In My case Switching to Rivatuner Solved the issue in all games.

But rivatuner I believe does not work with the GTX 4xx's (at least thats what happend to me with GTX 465's) but I have been lucky with Precision so far with my GTX 465's.

All I can think to do is try different version's of Precision/Afterburner and or Your video drivers.. You may find one that will work for You.. Other just Flash the values to a constant to keep them from dropping Your GPU clocks and causing the issue.

I wonder if this has to do with a defective SLI bridge, giving you this problem and the screen tearing?

I'm using afterburner, I ran it at both stock clock and OC, same thing happens.

GRRRR, Going to rip out my hairs soon

You can try nvidia inspecter : Just scroll down the page to the download location (External/Author, Europe or Sweden

http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-I...load-2612.html

I have never had it drop clocks during a game when I was testing it... it couldn't hurt. If it works then You know it's an Afterburner issue.

In the meantime, turn on the Physx Visual Indicator to see how well SLI is during the game play.
And, perhaps set the cards back to default clocking. This should make trouble shooting easier.
