Antec Basiq BP550 vs BP500 (True amp rating?)

Hello there, I'm curious about the true wattage rating of the
Antec Basiq BP550 Watt.

According to specs, it's a modular PSU with 3x 12v rails, and a max of 384watt output from the rails. This seems to be very very underrated.

The BP500, for example has 2x 12v rails with 18 amps each on its specs sheet. However, according reviews for the Antec BP500 from hardwaresecrets, it can do over its rated power, with good stability of pulling around 20amps on each rail. It said that the BP500 is more akin to a decent 650watt PSU.

So does anyone have the BP550 and know of its actual wattage rating?

You couldn't even wait an hour?

Do you mean the BP500 or BP500U? And what do you mean by true amp rating? What's on the label is the true amp rating, it can go a bit above that, it's a safety margin.

Yar, couldn't wait an hour indeed.

Some have large safety margins while others don't. The BP500U can pull over its rated limits, whereas the OCZ Slteathstream pulls 500 (mostly from 12v, rest from 3.3v/5v) and then shuts down if it tries to pull more. So I'd just add the safety margins to the stated 12v wattage to get the true wattage on the 12v rail...

So I guess what I'm asking is, what is the safety margin of the BP550?

Another question - which is better, BP500 vs OCZ Stealthstream 500?

The BP seems to have an advantage in having a lot of headroom up to 650w with all rails combined.
Stealthstream can only do up to 500watts exactly. Does this mean the OCZ PSU should be rated lower?

Both are efficient while the OCZ has more ripple regulation according to reviews, and has a quieter 120mm fan...

Btw, what is the difference between Antec BP500 and BP500U? (There's only BP500U right? What does the U stand for...)
