I use the GOL. But i hate snipers as much as i hate using it because most of the time i am playing on Hardcore mode and snipers are a total pain in the ass. Sad to say, most of them are COD camperwarefare experts who cant shoot for **** over there and they migrated to BFBC2 and brought their camping habits along. I mean seriously.. they dont mind camping at 1 spot for 30min and get less then 5 kills with their sniper rifle.

As many have posted, Snipers are not in BC2. There is a Recon class with access to long range sniper rifles.

To play recon correctly, you have to be close to the action. The motion sensor being the biggest indicator of this practice. You can't launch it and help your team mates effectively from the Spawn point or some remote mountain perch.

CoD is about individuals and fragfests. Team action is required in BC2. If you are off by yourself only worrying about your KDR, you are not helping your team.

Plus a Wookie with a shotgun is dangerous. Motion sensor, flank, kill. Give it a whirl sometime. You might realize what the class is really about.

EDIT: To stay on topic: VSS is my favorite b/c of the versatility.

Man SV98 and 12x optic scope is a killer with MORTAR in big maps. I camp and smack heads with bullets and tanks and other scum with mortars. Love this game.

I like the VSS or SV09 with 12x Scope and the bullet damage bonus to make up for the reduced damage of the gun. I'm not the greatest shot so the fast fire modes help, hehe. The 4x scope is also great for those maps with closer encounters.

I like playing sniper but man does getting sniped repeatedly suck. Apparently vietnam balanced this out some although I haven't picked it up yet.

I think I'm on SV98 right now. Once I get platinum for a rifle, I move on to another one. So far I've "completed" the M24, GOL, and may be something else I don't remember.

That Just depends on how you use that, if you cover your teammates and actually work with them, then it is a great tactic, but if you sit at you Base and cap people from there, its generally not helpful in game.

I'll say it again. The class is RECON, not sniper.

Recon implies you'll do some damn work and actually sneak around and arm mcoms, not hang out on some hill, or in some tree and be completely useless all for the sake of 1 man's K/D ratio...
See Above.

In Real Life, This dude is right, i know many people who were/are in the military, and 2 of my personal friends are actually Marine Scout Snipers, and from what they have explained to me, They Find a good "Nest" as they were calling it, and stay there with their spotter covering them, they don't leave to chase down an enemy that got away, or anything like that.

OT:
I Generally use the GOL fro actual sniping, and for my engineer class i use a M14 + 4x Scope to do what i have called being a "Short-Range Marksman." On a conquest map i got like 30 kills, and captured like 4 flags.

This sort of thing always confused me.
If you fire the M24 and the M95 horizontally from the same height next to each other, both rounds will hit the ground at the same time but the M95 round will have travelled farther.

But the M24 round would have dropped at a faster rate while the M95s round drop would have been more gradual. But because the the M24 round was travelling much slower it would have hit the ground at the same time as the much faster travelling M95 round.
