Looking for headset recommendation

Thread Starter
Hey-o.

I'm looking for a headset in the $100-150 range. Cheaper is better, but if there's a really amazing set for $150, I'm willing to binge.

I'm looking for over ear, surround sound, good for music and games, etc. Wireless or wired, doesn't matter. Mic is optional too, I don't need one.

What would you guys recommend? I've heard the Tritton AX720 are amazing - anyone have an opinion on them?

Cheers.

Oh wow, no microphone needed? That should be really easy.

Do you have a preference in what music you listen to? Your budget will get you pretty good quality but the choices are dependent on your music.

Mostly instrument-focused stuff. Movie scores, flamenco guitar, gypsy music, etc. Some heavy beat stuff too though, like Flying Lotus.

I am tempted to say the above recommendations by maximus20895 are actually really suitable for most of your music. I've heard both of them and own the HD595 myself. I'd say the two are extremely similar. I'd say the AD700 is about 95% or so of the HD595 in sound quality. The AD700 sounded slightly grainy to me with female vocals which is why I knocked off the 5%.

As for the heavy beat stuff...hmm....I'll have to get back to you on that unless someone takes the cake.

Ran into a bump - they don't sell the HD595 at Best Buy. Have a gift card to Best Buy, so I'm really tempted to buy from there.

Next best headset?

Well, I'd say you should look to buy from somewhere else. Best Buy doesn't have the best selection and it certainly doesn't have the best prices for headphones. Amazon.com is my go-to for headphones and many electronics now. Think you can buy from somewhere else?
