No its not, that just refers to Norton Ghost, which lets you clone drives. If you use that program, sure you are ghosting, otherwise you can just say cloning.

Semantics aside if the partition is larger than the destination you are going to have some real trouble cloning. Most programs require that the destination disc be the same size or larger than the partition you are trying to clone, not just the actual amount of space taken up.

Is there any way around this?

Or download Knoppix linux live CD. It has gparted, which can resize/shrink your windows NTFS partition. I use this to dual boot linux when I just bought a shiny new computer or help a friend convert to ubuntu. Throw in the knoppix, shrink windblows, reboot with ubuntu install CD, everyone's happy.

For your situation, google linux dd disc copy ... that's how you literally write the 1s and 0s from one "block device" to another in linux.

Knoppix seems to boot on any hardware and is really fast, too. I personally like the version 5 iso. The 6 one has options and stuff and takes longer.

So I used Acronis to clone my OS partition to my new SSD and I believe I successfully changed the boot order so I am booting to the new drive...but I'm not sure. Is there any way to tell which copy of Win7 I am running off of right now?

Just from my experience, short of actually disconnecting your old drive just go into Easeus Partition Manager and look at the disk info. It will show the boot drive as "Disk 1", and you'll either see 40gb as the full disk space, or a 40gb partition(probably C: ), and 600gb or however much unallocated space. Obviously the former means that you're booting from the SSD.
