NAS 10Mbs Blues..... - Page 2

One other option --try enabling or disabling (depending on how things are set up) auto-negotiation on your NAS network port, if it can be done. You may want to play around with this setting on the switchport the NAS is connected to as well.

I've seen occasions where a buggy autonegotiation setting will limit network throughput or cause other issues.

But before we start handing out a lot of tips, I would like to know what sort of hardware you have.
Is this a ITX PC with NAS software, a regular NAS, FreeNAS, OpenFiler, NASlite or something else?
Many of theese systems has some different personalities when it comes to networking.
It's not always as simple a plugging in the cable & getting 80 MB/S.....

You're using Windows of some sort, right?
They are usually more reliable when it comes to networking IMO.
At least for first setup without tweaking..

Oh...I forgot my initial tip...:
How many services do you have running on this NAS?
I.E: running torrents or other R/W intensive services on the same disks used for filesharing will lower you results...
Try disabling all non essential services and try transfering files again

Any luck, OP?

As stated, make sure every bit from your PC to the server is gigabit capable.
Also make sure that the server is negotiating to 1 Gbps and not 100 Mbps

If your NAS only has a 10/100 adapter, you aren't going to get much more than 10-12 MB/sec from it. If your NAS is only negotiating to 100 mbps, you aren't going to get much more than 10-12 MB/sec from it. If all hardware is gigabit and you can only negotiate at 100 mbit, try another LAN cable.
