How Hard does 69xx Crossfire Rock, Really? (56K Warning) - Page 5

I've finished running Crysis, Metro, and 3DMark 11. I'll be posting the results when I get back from, yet another, family dinner....

Dang, one card beating GTX470 SLi? Consumer win time!

Nice ... but something, somewhere must be amiss ... how can you be getting 55fps with one of them with a small OC (and your cpu at stock), whereas Jonny gets 69fps with two of them stock (and a large OC on his CPU)? This combination of results does not make much sense ... unless there is a massive CPU bottleneck kicking in at just over 60fps or so. Possible, of course, I do know Crysis on VH is difficult to get to run at much higher than 70fps with current procs, so ...

It's not beating my particular set of OC'd 470's, but stock it looks like it would ... but I honestly can't see these results being right. They appear too high relative to what two of them do in crossfire.

EDIT:
Hey ZK, any chance you could do the tests on your 6970 like you did on the 580, where you do three different AA levels, so we can make sure that AA is being applied properly? That'd be way cool

- What OS is that are you running? How do you get that bar on the bottom of your desktop that has the games in it?

I did a rerun after system restart and found out that the benchmark was stuck at lower resolution giving me higher fps. Still this is 8% OC vs 40% OC. Minimum is always better because its a single card.

He is probably not getting good scaling.
Edit: What do you get with one card and then we can see if ur benchmarks is valid or messed up.

I just ran through the same 3x loops (two times, hence me two graphs), logging using FRAPS while the tool ran, and these are the actual FPS results.

Again, note that each graph shows the benchmark looping through 3 times. Aside from teh very beginning, the 3 dips to the lowest points (around 50fps in the first chart, and 48fps in the second chart) represent the point at which each test run ends.

EDIT: The problem with the MIN reading is that it doesn't get reset after each loop, it just keeps the MIN number it got on the first loop for all three loops (same with the MAX actually). Look at the details of all 3 loops, and the MIN info is always exactly the same, down to the .00 of an FPS. There's no way that is right, and it's confirmed here by my graphs ...
