I think anyone who's looking to spend $600 on GPUs to use on a $250 monitor is missing the point, personally.

It's no secret that 6970/50 CF shines when you've got Eyefinity or 30" + antialiasing resolutions. At anything less you obviously end up with something between a 570 and a 470, which (again obviously) is merely equivalent to a 470 when the 470 is ridiculously OC'd and the 5950 doesn't even have the proper OCing tools available yet.

We already know "how hard 69xx Crossfire rocks" from Anandtech benchmarks at 25x16+4x AA. The 6970 CF beats 580 SLI in the 2 or 3 benchmarks where FPS is lowest, loses where FPS is highest (100+ and thus irrelevant), and almost ties the rest of the time.

So the facts are already established - amazing value at the high end. A single 1080p/1200p monitor hasn't been high end for some time now.

Well, then, since the matter is settled in your mind, feel free to avoid this useless thread I've created. The rest of us who are participating in the thread who actually are interested in being able to max out everything on our $250-350 monitors with our $600 graphics cards (or care about the subject for purely academic reasons) can haplessly plod along with our piddling nonsense in the absence of your sage wisdom, I should think

Keep in mind, these are actually 6950s flashed to the Powercolor 6970 BIOS. Once they are supported by AB I plan on flashing them back to 6950s and unlocking the extra shaders. Then I should be able to overclock them (without worrying about the tighter memory timings of the 6970) and see what they can really do.

CPU: i7-920 @ 4.2 GHz (HT On)
GPU: 2 x 6950 Flashed to 6970s @ stock clocks

Metro 2033:

Frosty:

+1 NICE, brother

So, +25% on Crysis, +10% on Metro, and only a bit behind on the 3dMark11, and that's with no OC ... very cool. How's the noise factor on those, btw?

So does this mean you're abandoning us on our epic 465 GE thread?

I am loving my 6970 crossfires. At super high resolution, I kid you not I am getting 200-300% performance increase with a second card. Now that is what I call scaling.
