So, +25% on Crysis, +10% on Metro, and only a bit behind on the 3dMark11, and that's with no OC ... very cool. How's the noise factor on those, btw?

So does this mean you're abandoning us on our epic 465 GE thread?
Glad I could help. Like I said, I'm hoping to flash them back to a modded 6950 BIOS once the Radeon BIOS Editor and Afterburner have full support. Then we'll see how they overclock.

Noise is not a problem what-so-ever. That being said, they do get quite hot, mine like to load at about 90C (as 6950s they load at 65-70). The Twin Frozr II is definitely a much more efficient cooler than the blower on these cards.

No, I'm most definitely not abandoning the GE thread, haha. I still love those cards, just hoping MSI will send me two more GEs when my RMA goes through. I'll most likely be stuck with regular 465s though...lame.

Make a custom fan profile. Mine gets 65C with 65% fan speed.

65% is pretty loud on these cards though. I could probably deal with 50-55%. Either way, one of my cards was going to 500/1375 instead of 880/1375 when gaming. Since uninstalling AB it seems to have gone away.

I have definitely decided to go with 6970 CF instead of 580 SLi for my next upgrade path after seeing these 6970 CF benches. Definitely a no brainer. Thanks guys.

@BigCactus - There's no doubt in my mind that when you take into account performance and price, 6970 CF is the better option.

If money is no object then 580 SLI is definetely tempting, but a lot of us would not want to pay all that for the 580's.

I've upped my i7 from 4 --> 4.2 and now the Crysis benchmark reads --

Run #1- DX10 1920x1080 AA=4x, 32 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 71.06

Did a Vantage run for the sake of it..

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

GPU score of 35091. For context my Trifire system of 5970/5870 achieved GPU of 36K but that was with heavily matured drivers. Furthermore it was pretty well over-clocked at 850/1250. The 6970's are using their first drivers and are at stock clocks.

I'm very impressed.

Two Things that really please me -
a) A min FPS of 50 in Crysis
b)Not going over 72c on the hottest card with 50% fan speed (this is very bearable).

Ok Overcloking time. I'll start with a good, but "modest", overclock of 950/1450 from stock 880 1375.
