AMD Build Help

Thread Starter
The build is for my Girlfriend. Will be used for Data Processing, Light gaming, and the internets and easier stuff.

I wanted the faster CPU to make everything snappier and fast and less of GPU becuase it wont be gaming intensive.

Can Anyone find some suggestions on parts that could be swapped out that may be a little better.

Only thing missing is speakers. Anyone got a good suggestion on a pair?

Everything will be ordered from Newegg.com

Thanks planned on ordering tomorrow.

I was thinking about the black. What would the real world gains on it be?
I was thinking the blue becuase it 6gb/s

No overclocking, Just want a fast reliable chip. I just started looking at coolers though. Any suggestions there? Nothing extreme like the true but something better then stock.

rotating drives cannot even keep up with 3g/s (sata II) controllers

there is no advantage, other than the cache

For your listed needs, I would buy lower spec stuff for me. Shee-it I bought lower spec stuff for my rigs...

IMHO, get a super fast Phenom X2, I've got one and it worked really well. Win 7 was very snappy with it. It did unlock to 4 cores, but when I overclocked it, I left it at X2.

Shave more $$ from the mo-board ... even the 790FX is under $100 now.

IMHO, newegg can beat tiger with pricing on CPUs and MoBoards unless it's something tiger is blowing out. But Tiger kills the Egg when it comes to GPUs and monitors.

And if you really want to save more $, TD has Mushkin RAM for like $40 (after MIR).

Tiger also has a 23" HDMI Gateway monitor with speakers for $139. They're refurb's, but I've been super happy with mine. I love them so much, ended up buying 4 for work. 2 of them were literally as new. Protective plastic everywhere. 1 had some of the protective plastic removed. 1 of them actually looked like it might not be new. None have had stuck or dead pixels. They're hdmi, dvi, vga, + audio connectors.

I'd say a few $ could be shaved going with a nVidia GT430 GPU. They're pretty awesome. Small and kick butt. Tiger has those for consistently less than NewEgg.

Maybe the mouse is a little spendy if she doesn't use and want one like you've got... get her to try yours out first. My faves are wired microsoft optical mice. They. Just. Work. Forever.

PSU, Case, HD? Good choices there. I know that any 450~500W PSU will be fine in that rig as you have it set up. But I also know that you can't go and turn it into a multi-GPU folding rig with less than 750W.

Otherwise, check out Hardware Secrets recommended list for the best power supplies. After I blew my 450W one, I found this place ... just after I bought a 750W model they call a piece of crap. Well the POC is doing ok, but which I had seen this first.

Chris
