That's all well and good, and it's your thing, but god that's so much money that's unneccessary. Without going in to details that I don't know (I'm not the audiophile, but I helped my buddy build a lot of his stuff), his audio setup is rated for a 500 seat theater lol.

It's hard for me to describe it all since it's a currently in progress upgrade. Needless to say it's crisp, clean, the bass is deep (tuned to 10hz).

Sidenote: post some pics, I have to see this system of yours.

lol not a fan of Shakira but hips don't lie is a catchy tune lol

No, I just have lots of Headphones, and Tube amps sitting around my Desk. I mean a Good pair of headphones, is around $300-$500 with some of the more ridiculous sets, getting way up into the thousands... Electrostatic's are insanely pricy...

Try finding the price on some Senn Orpheus's lol... they were a limited run of 300 units, priced @ $16k each... now, they're rare collector items... easily $20k.

I have 3 sets of hood Headphones, two are recabled. I have 3 Tube amps, Multiple spare tubes, and matched tube sets... And then I have a proper 5.2 Surround with 2x 500W 15" Subwoofers , but this also doubles as the surround sound for my home theater

Here's some older pics of the initial setup:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/h3llscr...th/4097239188/

but I added the Skiing ninja Master mods to all my AV123 speakers about 5 months ago when av123 hit a rough spot, (they're gone now )
http://www.skiingninja.com/category-s/100.htm
http://www.skiingninja.com/category-s/64.htm
EDIT: lol skiingninja still sells their mods nice

Amp:
Marantz SR 8001
Speakers:
2x ELT 525 Centers
2x MFW-15 Subwoofers both with latest Amps (the original versions had a fault, I had to replace one myself)
4x ELT 525 Towers
2x XLS Encores (powered by a seperate Rotel RB 991 Power amp) (this + an 250W X-Sub is my 2.1 Setup)

Headphones:
Senn 650s With Cardas Cable
Beyer DT770 Pro 80's recabled with Silver plated copper cable, and J$ lambskin earpads
Audio Technica DT 2000s

Amps:
Custom Millet MAX (Made by Soloz Audio, modded more by me) with Toroid PS, Speaker out with auto switching, and OptiVol)
Woo Audio 1
MMSS With matched Raytheon Tubes +/- 2%

DAC:
MHDT Havana W/ Bendix Redbank 6385 and Zu Audio Birth Power Cable

Some of my Pride and Joy, I have some portable Amps too...

That's what costs the big bucks, but if you're going after quality, price cannot be a factor.

Years ago I had a tube amp picked out that I wanted....it was over $10k.

Which is pointless. There are very few people in the word that can hear anywhere close to that. The average person I would say can't hear below about 30Hz. People that have a "good ear" can hear ~20. And then there's the anomaly that can hear to about 15.

Are the subs 4 or 8 Ohm? And how big of a room are they in? Good 15's make some crazy bass. The SPL that can be produced can literally rupture ear drums. A friend had some 15's in his old Dodge Daytona, it literally shook the car to pieces. He'd have to go through it every couple of days with tools to tighten everything back up.

I stuck with 12's that I had an engineer buddy of mine help me make a tuned enclosure (tuned to approx. 35-40Hz), and that made enough bass to permanently damage my ear drums.

OT: Why is bass spelled the way it is. Every time I read I think

They're 8 Ohm, and tuned for the 20hz range, but go as low as 17hz, and it's a (rented )Town House basement (14x24x9' or so), I invite the neighbours over for movie night (shake your foundations ) lol , Keep telling myself to save up for a house, keep buying more useless crap lol
