play your games in offline mode?

Steam has a built in backup feature that allows you to backup a Steam game installed on your computer. This backup is then broken down into files equal to the size of a CD or DVD (you choose which size you want) so that you can burn them onto a disk for safe keeping.

Aren't you a lot more likely to lose or damage your hard copy CDs? I think my house is more likely to burn down than Steam is likely to go under.

Although it probably won't be anytime soon,
what would happen to all your games if valve were to go under? Because valve makes steam right? So would steam just die and all your games would be gone forever? Because if they go bankrupt I really doubt you'd be getting a refund.

Just a question out of curiosity.
IF they ever did go under they would have a solution for the problem. I have so many friends on my friends list on Steam who have between 400 and 1000 games with Multiple thousands invested & are still spending till this day.

I dont see steam going under at all. Steam Redefined PC gaming in my eyes & would be a Huge loss to the PC community & Valve.

I love having a physical copy of the game. But I find that over the years, you may forget where you put that old disc or lost it somehow. Thanks to steam, you will never lose your game.

And also, by the time steam actually goes down, you won't even be playing those incredibly old games anymore.

You can get the GCFs online from non-steam sources right now. Not only that but I'm sure there will be quite the market for game discs on eBay.
