Meaning you do that too? Get a job and pay for it?

Piracy is hurting the pc community. We cannot take anymore of these damn console ports!!

I don't pirate games, and I know this as well. Knowing how to pirate, and what it does, doesn't mean you actually pirate. I also know how to kill a person and leave no trail whatsoever. Doesn't mean I'm a killer.

But yes, in short, his install has modified Steam files and "hacked" into the server, giving him the game through Steam. I know people who did this as well, it's completely possible, although very risky.

Wait... Doesn't every case get solved in CSI?

Anyway, as others have said you should probably contact Steam and explain the situation.
You never know, they may even reward you for your honesty.

Can you please explain to me where the hell did you get the idea that I do that from that post? Smoke pot much...? You don't have to do it to know it (applies to many things in life).

By the way, you sound like a little girl having her period, "oh, piracy is hurting the PC community! Stop it! Stop it now before it's too late! ZOMG!" And then you contradict yourself by saying "the PC community can't take any more of these damn ports", as if it was our damn fault that most people are stupid enough to buy a console and therefore attract the full attention of game developers to consoles...

Oh, and just so you know, p2p and direct download (which you call "piracy", lol) is 100% legal in my country, so wake the hell up. "Piracy" doesn't exist. That term is pure bull****.

Do you really think that not supporting a game with your dollar is going to encourage developers to keep giving their all? Why try if you make less than you could by just developing for consoles?

I'm sorry, are you expecting me to pay for every game out there? I DO buy games. Hell, sometimes I'll buy the game even if I downloaded it and already played it... I just don't buy them if they're not worth it, which is most of the time these days with all these stupid console ports.

Keep in mind they're worth 60 bucks the piece, which is like ***. I can understand that console games sell at that price since they sell the consoles cheap, but the prices we are seeing for PC games are ridiculous and meant only so that the console fanboys won't cry and think it's unfair...

Why would the price of the game fluxuate with the platform anyway? For consoles, there are licensing fees (which are absent on the PC), but just because you can spend $2000 on a gaming PC doesn't mean games will magically become cheaper...

Nor are development costs magically lower for PC (in fact, they might be higher given the cost of testing on so many pieces of hardware). Though again, cost of dev kits for consoles and such probably make up for a lot of that.
