New 760... Burrning up after seconds of prime - Page 3

I'm no expert but it really shouldn't be overheating like that at stock, make sure the mobo isn't overvolting, put the settings on NORMAL and not AUTO and give it a try. I could set my i5 750 to 3.2GHz using the stock cooler and it didn't break 73C on prime. You shouldn't rule out having to RMA the chip. If your sure the proper voltage is going through it I'd ring up whoever you bought it from and request a replacement

$5 wifi on the plane? Works for me... So is the general thought that the mugen 2 is probably in the top 3 air coolers, if not the best?

This is completely unrelated, but since I know the least about RAM: when I OC it it says DRAM Frequency: 600MHz or something around there (a few off maybe), what is that and what do I multiply it by to get the speed like 1333 or 1600 or whatever?

Really? It's running at 1200MHz? I knew that applied to DDR2 but.. 1200MHz? I paid for 1600MHz RAM, the motherboard supports 1333. There's no reason it shouldn't be running at 1333 at least, right?

I know I had asked earlier but you've mentioned that you're OC'ing with a MSI mobo. You've stated that you're not buying a MSI mobo again. Would you please say what mobo you are currently using, since you do not have a sig?

Probably just has a lower memory multiplier set. Not a big deal.

I said earlier in the thread. h55m-e23

Anyway RAM speed doesn't matter that much for doing moderate gaming and watching videos, right?
One other thing, IIRC when I was running it, realtemp said it was only ~2.8GHz (stock) and CPUz and everything else reported what I had OCed it to, which program should I have believed? I'll have access to the computer again in about an hour, I can be of more help then.

Just take a screenshot of CPU-Z and realtemp right beside each other. Might just be speedstep which realtemp will show the change but CPU-Z won't except in voltage (if it's set up right).

^ Will do, but for right now, I have C1E and EIST disabled in BIOS, and the windows power plan set to high performance, and it's still downclocking at idle.

Just got back, started 2 threads on p95, set affinity to cores 1 and 4 in windows, speedfan confirms they're being used completely.
Temps slowly rising, staying in the low-mid 70s though.. That's with 2 cores, can't imagine what will happen with 4 cores (and no it's not OC lol, my sig just says that because I set it to 3.3 once)
