Bad stutter in many games... Full HDD the culprit?

Thread Starter
I have been plagued with MASSIVE stutter in many games, and have created many threads and searched everywhere trying to diagnose the problem(Ive suffered it for 4 months)

I came to realize that my 500 gb HDD is usually 95% full, is this the culprit?

Also the HDD in my rig below died, I now use a samsung spinpoint f3 (hd502hj)

What is wrong with the 2x2gb DDR3 ram?

Some games run flawlessly(Need for Speed:Shift,DIRT2, Fallout 3, Batman Arkham Asylum), Others, say, Dead Rising 2, Mafia 2, and Need for Speed:Hot pursuit are just horrible

I would KILL to fix this problem...

Oddly In Mafia2 it happens when gpu temps exceed 72C.
In dead rising 2 its not linked to temp, rather it happens about 5 mins in.
In NFS:HP it happens all the time...

Nothing wrong with 2x2GB.... problem with 2x2mb!

Open up your case and point a house fan on your video cards... does it help?

Lol doing that already, keeps mafia2 running fine, but man this is irratating, and I dont even play mafia2 anymore, I will destroy my harddrive deleting all this data lol, defrag, and then see what will happen afterwards... Maybe it will fix the issue.

I dont see running sub 70c temps on 2x5770's being a problem though... Something is seriously amiss, and Im at my wits end lol.

It wouldnt be defective memory would it? I notice that after coming back from a long idle, my pc just doesnt perform at all, resulting in a shutdown to restore performance.

Deleting data and defragging doesn't kill HDDs.

It might not be the GPU core temps.

If a game runs stable for a few minutes and then consistently begins too slow down... the issue is most likely a thermal problem.

If you think it is a memory issue... test your memory with MemTest86+.

The drive is too full, especially if its your OS/Apps drive. Your hard drive is likely thrashing about looking for free space to read and write to.

You should get another drive to put some of your files on or delete files you don't want anymore on your current drive.

Defragmenting your drive with that little free space is going to be difficult and take a long time. I would not defrag at this point until you have at least 15 percent free space.

205gb free of 1.36tb

Looks like I may have to delete some unwanted stuff here soon
