Thermal paste question. IC DIAMOND 7

Thread Starter

I remember for a while the forums were raving about a new thermal paste that took off a few C's.
Is it this one?

Or is it something else.
Isn't this supposed to be the best or something?

I am running low on my OCZ freeze and as5. I keep building comps for friends and family... and using it on laptops and consoles lol.

One of the best...along with Shin Etsu paste.

just a pain to use...gotta leave the tube in warm water for a minute to allow easier flow.

Yea I heard about that water thing. What do you do drain it afterwards and use whats left in the ... cup?
So the paste I linked you to, is that the correct one.

I've heard about indigo extreme before. Nice idea but I like to be able to use it on other devices if I want.

So from that chart your saying it is not really worth it?

ICD7 scratches your heatsink and IHS and is super thick. Get something that is easier to apply imho. Temp differences between pastes are going to be minimal.

Well this is a completely difference attitude from what I saw months or a year ago.
People were talking about it like it dropped 10c's or something.

K thanks for the suggestions, I'll stick to OCZ freeze or AC MX-3 probably.

definitely helped my temps.
went from topping out at 53 on AS5
to 48 on IC7.
my idle is about the same on both (35 ish)
this is with winter time ambients though,
i guess the real test will be summer time cuz my room gets hot as hell

You can use IC7 to lap your heatsink.
Scratches are minimal...temps not so much...it's all I use.

btw: put the tube (capped) in a cup of warm water to heat the TIM inside the tube...it'll help it flow a little easier.
