Well I have frequent microstutter, and this...

Thread Starter
I have been plagued with MASSIVE stutter in many games, and have created many threads and searched everywhere trying to diagnose the problem(Ive suffered it for 4 months)

Some games run flawlessly(Need for Speed:Shift,DIRT2, Fallout 3, Batman Arkham Asylum), Others, say, Dead Rising 2, Mafia 2, and Need for Speed:Hot pursuit are just horrible.

Are these temps weird for idle? It seems strange for one card to be so much hotter...

Also.... Should my clocks be running like this at idle?

The card with the lower clocks is hotter? Either way its not a defective card, Ive switched their positions like 12 times in the past 4 months trying to figure this out.

Tried booting my system with the monitor hooked to the other card, no video, switched the cord back to the original card during operation, regained video, and had 2d clocks.

What the hell?

Cards work fine individually, and just ran a game and it ran fine, then started to completely lock up instead of stuttering. Also although crossfire is enabled and is supported by the game, now that Ive done that the game doesnt use the card or show the crossfire logo.

Man, if I only had a $1 for every time I've answered this question about the clocks in the AB graphs with cards in crossfire

In your graphs, your (physically) top card is actually GPU2 in AB, and is running at normal 2d clocks. Your bottom card is GPU1, and is actually 'shut off' (which is supposed to happen in 2d mode) and running at 0MHz (you can check this in CCC Overdrive if you unlock it), but AB doesn't read this power state properly and shows it as running at the default clocks (850/1200).

This is why the card that 'looks' to be at higher clocks is cooler ... not only is it actually the bottom card (so it's cooler because of that), PLUS it's shut off, not really at 850/1200MHz but rather at 0/0MHz.

Also ... Mafia 2 ... does it stutter even w/PhysX totally shut off in game? There's definitely 'glitchy' parts of that game where the FPS tanks miserably (and GPU usage is low as well) ... right outside the Maltese Falcon is one place I remember offhand.

you answered something i wanted to know as well.

My bottom card isnt detected in CCC. when i select GPU 2 it's core clock mem and fan speed are all at 0

So that's why huh.

Srry to thread jack, but is it ok to disable CFX powersave settings? will it affect performance either way?
