Help with Overclocking the 1090t BE

Thread Starter
First of all, I'd like to say that I'm new here and you guys have been incredibly helpful already as I've read through some other threads.

My issue is that I just can't seem to reach any stable overclocks over 3.4ghz.. I've even tried replicating many successful Overclocks by other people with similar systems but to no avail. After an unsuccessful OC, the system will either restart itself and give me the "unsuccessful OC error" or it will "restart" but BIOS wont boot back up (in which case I have to unplug the computer, wait, then turn it back on), or sometimes it will restart and let me back into BIOS but then BIOS will freeze after about 30 seconds (in which case I have to unplug it and wait again), and finally, some OCs make it into windows but fail either AMD's OD stability test or prime95 within 2 minutes.

Are these errors/symptoms normal when trying to find a stable overclock?
I'm pretty new to overclocking so I want to be sure before I try again.

Highest stable OC so far: 3408 MHZ
213 FSB
16x multi
1.4 vcore

I've tried raising the vcore to a max 1.45 as well but hasn't worked.

For the overclocks that DO make it into windows, Load temps do not exceed 45C

I've got an ASUS M4A89GTD Mobo, 650W PSU, 2x 5830 x-fire, h50 cooling with push-pull setup, A-data 4x2gb RAM @ 9-9-9-24 (1.65v)

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Could you go into your user control panel and fill out your complete specs please.

I have a sneaky feeling your PSU is inadequate to the job.

A basic system with 2 5830s, a 1090T @ stock, and RAM/drives pulls 500W+ of power...factor in an inefficient and/or old PSU and that would do it too

why not take a vid card out of the equation, and give it another shot? you'll have more power going to your cpu that way

Just updated my system specs sorry... Was going to do it after I posted, didn't think you guys would respond so fast haha

The 650W ran my old Phenom x2 555 @ 4.0ghz with no problems with the same setup. I am also running both GPUs off of another PSU that I had laying around to remove stress from the 650. But maybe it has to do with the PSU still not supplying enough power to the CPU?

ok since the vid cards power are going off a different supply, you should be fine power wise. The thing is, the x6 pulls approx 140w of power more or less. I'd suggest for 4 ghz, that you do a fsb of 200 and multiplier of 20. You will need to up your voltage to around 1.375(ish), put your NB around 2600-3000, HT at 2000, cpu-nb voltage around 1.3, drop your dram from 1333 to 800 or 1067 mhz to allow headroom for OC of your cpu. Give that all a try and get back to me please
