New SLI Setup concerns - Page 2

Do you have a fan on the side of you case? I don't believe the 922 comes with one...it would hep your temps greatly, especially if they do not exhaust out the rear.

I would say you need a better chassi, some of today's gaming chassies are very good. Whilst some are to much mambo-jumbo looking-good quick-connect-plug-and-play crap. You need a big, cool, metal box, with inbuilt individual fan control on eatch fan, and some nice wiring skills to go with it.

Mm.. how about, an Antec 1200!

And as that guy above said, having a 1k PSU is overkill, there are small ones that go up as high as 750 or even 800 i believe, witch is not bad, as long as it is a quality grand on the PSU, you should be good to go, i can personally recommend the Be Quiet!

Yes i have a side intake fan, 200mm Coolermaster megaflow.

Another issue which has cropped up is since tinkering around inside - Now when i switch on the computer i get no visual output on the monitor until i'm at the logon screen. So therefore i cant access the bios etc...But once on the logon screen for windows display is fine.

Im using a DVI cable in the back of the bottom graphics card and HDMI in the back of the monitor. Any suggestions?

Also in regards to my temperatures i've dug out an old antec 120mm 3-speed fan, placed that ontop the PSU , directly below the graphics card so that should hopefully assist in sucking some cold air on the cards.

Does anybody think upgrading my case to an Antec 1200 or HAF X would improve these temperatures?

should leave me enough space to place the 2nd card in the lowest PCI e x16 slot (close to the PSU)

Or will this hardly make a difference?

Furmark peaks at 93c after 11minutes even with the gpu fans roaring at 100% speed and having that little extra 120mm fan resting atop the psu.

Are these normal results for a GTX 460 SLI furmark stability test?

3DMark 11 SLI Fix

It worked for me.

Edit:

About your temps, I use the first and third PCI-E (x16/x8) because of my PCI X-FI, and my temps are never above ~75-78 @ gaming. 100% load, I think 84-85c.

So, the top card (regardless if the monitor is connected to it or to the lower card) is always hotter. Correct?

Basically, there is no empty slot space in between the 2 cards as per the layout of your Asus Rampage II Extreme.
And, making matter worse, your Palit GTX460 2GB 's cooling is of the type that sucks cool air in via the centre fan and then dumps it all around (vs the traditional's exhausting to the case rear).

Read another end user's review of a similar situation here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/30...k-review-palit

He has a 15C difference between the 2 cards.

Perhaps the best course of action is to change to another case so that you can move the lower card further down to the bottom white PCIe slot.
