Seasonic X-850 PSU and CPU 8 Pin connectors

Thread Starter
I had Antec TPQ 850 Watt PSU which had 1x 8pin and 1x4pin for CPU connected to my Motherboard

Although my motherboard has 2x8pin for the CPU , I have had to live with 8pin+4pin

When I got the Seasonic X-850 I thought it would have better power output like 8pin+8pin for CPU but I could only connect 4pin+4pin !

Is that normal or did I do something wrong ?

8pin + 8pin is utterly pointless. A single 4pin is usually enough for just able anything.

If you want to be ghetto you can of course make some adapters or buy one. Like molex to 8pin, but you will see maybe 0.01% difference with another 8pin.

I just don't want to run out of power

CPU is overclocked as well as my 2 HD6970 CF + Many HDDs and fans biggrin.gif

I was amazed that Antec had 8pin+4pin but Seasonic only has 4pin+4pin

BTW : Here is a cable that I don't know how to connect but there is no place for it in the PSU :

Really I assure you, you don't need dual 8pins. the 4+4pin only delivers power to your CPU, so it doesn't matter how many video cards, hard drives, or fans you have.

Well , I seemed like a noob, I know biggrin.gif

Thank you for your input, I was just amazed that Antec connectors were more than Seasonic in that regard

Can you tell my what is that connector in the pics ?

I have another problem :

2 HD6970 CF gives me the same exact performance as 3 HD6970 CFx !

I just connected one EZ-Plug (4 pin molex) in my mobo because the second one can not be used due to my case, could it be the problem ?
