GTX295 Furmark

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,
My GTX 295 will hit 106C in Furmark. Is this safe? I run a CM Elite 430 mid tower case and I do not have any fans in there (other than Hyper 212 HSF and stock GPU cooling). Should I add some fans? The GPU idles at 70C and only hits 90C during gaming of Black ops or GTA 4.

I would say that's a bit hot, my 295 idles at about 50C and can reach 100C with furmark, I would get some extra fans.

Get some case fans, 1 in, then the rest exhaust

How many do I need? Is 1 enough? The only place the case really has a place to mount one is the rear exhaust fan. Should I make it blow air into or out of the case?

Is the GTX 295 able to withstand these temps for long periods of time? In other words is this card gonna die on me soon?

106C is beyond the point of no return.

that is dangerous big time..

my GTX 295's loaded at maybe 80c.

Idle'd at 55C.

90C In my opinion is Safe for any GPU and will not damage nor shorten life span.

95C is Pushing it... but again safe.

100C while this wont damage a GPU. this is the limit.

they are rated for no more then 105C. you have crossed said line. running beyond 105C for even a few hrs. could/will kill that GTX 295's.

nvidia GT200B's can handle some serious heat.

Dang. I think I am going to sell this card. I want a quiet, cool card that performs well at 1680x1050. Mostly play Black Ops and GTA IV. What do yall recommend??

GTX 295 is reletively Cool running.

That card is fine for 1680X1050.

dont forget that a GTX 295 is still one of the fastest card's on the planet.

Only things faster are a GTX 570 GTX 580 and 5970.

Re-sell value is about 200$ which i say is fair.

For 200$ i reccomend getting a ati 6850. if you are not an ATI guy, go for a 1GB GTX 460. ( both will easily run Black op's at your resolution with no problems )

if you want to buy a bit higher say 225-250 USD. you can pick up either a 5870 or GTX 470.

How can you say its cool running with mine hitting 106C? I also even cleaned up the stock thermal goop and reapplied good thermal paste..
