possibly. Two main things you need for ssd raids is intel matrix raid storage configurator programme, and in that make sure "disk data cache" is enabled

yep... detaching the other drives is the easy way to control Windows Setup's mad boot-sector-placer

I mention to do this in the "new drive setup guide":

Thread Starter
thanks for everyone's input on my query. needless to say, i did end up having to open up my case and disconnect and reconnect the ssd in order to perform secure erase. i ended up using hdderase.

everything went smoothly, except that after the operation was finished, ssd's S.M.A.R.T. capabilities no longer functioned, per bios. i tried all i knew to turn it's S.M.A.R.T. functions back on, but no dice. so i just disabled it in the bios. i've never had to use hard drive S.M.A.R.T. functions anyways, and it didnt affect ssd's performance by disabling it.

one thing i noticed was, WEI processor score was lowered from 7.7 to 7.6 when i changed from a 32bit to a 64bit os. ram went up though, from 7.7 to 7.8.

so there, i've got a fresh os on a fresh ssd thanks to ocn members

I am going to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop with SSD (X25-M).
I am afraid that old files will physically remain on SSD even after qiuck format (made by Windows 7 installator). And slow down the work of the new Windows.

Or am I wrong and the quick format (made by installer) will instruct command TRIM?
If you are reinstalling windows onto SSD you SHOULD secure erase the SSD with Parted Magic or a similar secure eraser, you just do a windows quick format when you install is NOT going to give you the best speed from your SSD. Secure erase will make SSD like factory new.....To install OS onto

Are they all basically the same? I mean, I'm considering formatting and starting over today, so would even HDDErase be perfect?
