560 - Page 2

Let's say they are 400$ for a pair of them.

They dont have the % scaling of say my ati 6870's.

The 560 would have to be faster then the GTX 470 to justify the price over ATI's offering from a consumer's point of view.

If it were faster then the GTX 470. ( which it wont be) then what was the point of the GTX 570 being so close yet 125-150$ more.

No doubt 6870CrossfireX will beat GTX 560 sli. and at a cheaper price point.

in my opinion the GTX 560's are not in a good position on the market. speaking on terms of what is currently avalible. kind of like the ati 5830.

nothing wrong with it. it's just an oddball that doesnt fit :/

id'e take GTX 570 SLI over 560 sli. due to Price/performance.

But that's just me.

If i wanted a 400$ sli solution. then GTX 460.

EDIT: im not a troll. just though u should know.

That makes sense. I am just hoping they fall around $200 in price. I could definitely live with $400 for SLI.

I found a thread on the first page that I didn't see before posting about the 560. Apparently from the sources available at the moment, it looks like it will be a bit slower than the 470 and apparently aimed at the $250-$270 Price Range. That seems like a truly horrible idea to me. I understand that the 4xx Series are being discontinued and replaced but I don't understand the point of making a card with worse performance that costs more. It said that a reference card with decent cooler would be in the neighborhood of $300....They won't come close to the 570 so I don't understand what justifies that at all.

If things play out as they seem, I will just get two 6850's and Overclock them + Crossfire and they'll crush the 560 for the same price.

The GTX470's MSRP is US$349 (> GTX560's US$300 which is one of the prices considered by Nvidia. I suppose the final price will depend on the final spec which is also not fixed.). The current price of GTX470 is lowered for a simple reason: clearing the inventory.

It is hard to say the spec of final version of GTX560. Read my post #69 here for some 'leaked info':
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/9026...-leaked-7.html

As for 6850 CF vs Single GTX560 (regardless of the final spec), I will bet the pair will win, performance wise. But then you will have to deal with things which accompany dual cards setup (double the heat, potential micro stuttering...etc)

I think the lower version of the GTX560 will compete with HD6870 while the upper version will compete with HD6950.

Putting performance aside, since you already have a 6850, I think it is better to add another one, making much money sense.

Actually yes it should be ~15% faster than a GTX 470 @ 607Mhz.

This is a GF114 core w/384 @ 820Mhz.

That puts it ~10-15% ahead of the GTX 470 and 20-25% faster than a GTX 460-1Gb.

The GTX 560 should launch at $250-279, that puts it in the proper market.

Oh, I read through that entire thread. hehe Extremely interesting.

I just received my 6850 a few days ago and I can return it for a full refund if needed which is why I'm trying to make up my mind. hehe At the moment, I can't imagine the 560's being a better buy.

So, a 470 is only 5-10% faster than a 460? That is surprising, especially since a 6850 outperforms a 460.

I've read that the 560's aren't expected to be very good at overclocking which could limit their potential since you can overclock the hell out of 6850's and 460's. lol

This still doesn't warrant the price, however. As I said before, CFX 6850's for $300 will destroy a single 560 at $269-$279. Is their aim to basically replace the 470 with similar performance and price?

If my math isn't off, the GTX 460-1GB should be about 13% slower than a GTX 470 at stock.

The GTX 560 w/384 CUDA Cores @ 820Mhz should be that much faster than a stock GTX 470.

I haven't come across any 6850s for $149. The cheapest I've seen are $169(After MIR) and of course two mainstream cards v. one performance card, the mainstream pair will beat the solo card as is the case when you compare two cards of any given segment to any one card in the higher tiered segment.(Ex: Two GTX 560s will beat a single GTX 580..etc.)
