Bought a GTX570, Considering more cards

Thread Starter
I just bought an ASUS GTX570 today, it rocks. I can see a clear performace boost over my 5870.

I am considering a few more cards. Options

1. GTX570
2. cf 6850
3. SLI GTX460 768
4. 6950 (but cant find a reason to buy it over 6850cf)

I have 2 computers as you can see. I am strongly leaning towards the CF6850 since they use low power, only need 1 pci 6 pin each, I like diversity and I have never had ATI problems (well except 2 dead 5970's). I just sold my 58xx series cards today.

I like the idea of having two 570's so i can SLI later. 2 460's are strong, and 2 6850's are strong.

I am asking in the nvidia section to see if anyone provides a compelling argument to fill my second comp with nvidia over the 6850s. Thanks

So you go for gtx570 but not 5870 CF? 5870 CF would be better.

this is for his 2nd computer. he had the 570 in his 1st one already.

people here would always recommend single card solutions over multi cards if you got the money since it's obviously a better experience with single GPU.

Linskingdom, Thanks for the replay

Wanted new tech and I wanted one computer to have nvidia.

I had a 58xx cf and it was nice. I just want to try new stuff.

The more I look at 6850cf results I think it provides a great sulution. Just like 460's in SLI.

btw, the GTX570 is a strong card.

If purely for the sake of diversity, then this is more an emotional response.

If on more rational basis, I would not suggest GTX460 SLI but a single GTX570. The advantage (as you also have noted) is that it offers a clear upgrade path. When it is time to upgrade, you just combine them (and will have awesome power) and then just buy a single good card whatever offered in that day to fit into that empty slot.

As an OT, I suggest you go to User CP-->System Information-->Add System so that you separate your 2nd system from your 1st one. It makes reading your sig rig much better and therefore people can give more accurate advice.

Reason for 6950: Unlocks to 6970, and you can still upgrade later (crossfire scaling is excellent).

Thanks for the thoughts.

This is the main reason I am considering another GTX570.

However, I do not think it is emotiomal to consider 6850's in cf when they are stronger than a GTX570. Plus I can run games on the sytem which will best optimize each game. .

I appreciate the vote against the SLI 460's. This is by far the lowest cost option.

I appreciate the thoughts.

Agree. gtx570 is a strong card. Here is the link to show some number on GTX570 SLI and 6850CF etc. Hope this helps you decide where to go.

No CF is horrible and glitchy lol, not worth the extra fps.

Do you have different objectives for each rig? A friend has a single screen tri-fire FPS rig and a triple screen racing cockpit setup.
