I was planning on doing that soon. Was up late messing around last night after building it on the test bench. Now it's in my HAF 932 and looking really sexy biggrin.gif

I've never done a core series OC - so I'll go for this test next.

The only thing they suffer from is their weak IMC. Some can do better than others but they won't match i7.

*Edit*

@LiquidKaos, try changing your memory ratio. From my screenshot, you can see I had to lower it a bit in order to get it to post.

I can post at 5.2ghz no problem redface.gif

You think dropping even lower will help? I'm already running 760 out of 800 per stick as it is.

Hey LiquidKaos!
I've also got the i3-550 and managed to get it to 4.0ghz on stock cooling (never really tried higher).

Is it really safe to have it at 1.424v even though Intel specifies that the upper SAFE voltage for the 550 is 1.4v?

I'm pretty sure your E8600 6MB cache will nearly tie my i3 550 4MB cache (or get really close since im OC'ed a bit higher). Also, your 5870 is slightly faster then my 6870 as a single card biggrin.gif Would be nice to see how close it is!

I really only upgraded because (a) I got a free motherboard with the CPU and (b) the 6870 was covering all my SATA ports on my EVGA 650i Ultra motherboard!

Where can I get a copy of 3dmark06. Might give it a go this weekend. biggrin.gif

I'm happy with 1.424v myself. I only paid $129 for the mobo & cpu combo, so I'm not really worried. I personally wouldn't do over 1.45v+ on the chip.
