Will I Have Fun With AMD 6-Core CPU?

Thread Starter
I'm itching to try out an AMD setup for the 1st time. I know Bulldozer is going to be released but because of specific individuals I know I can buy and build a new AMD setup at a real nice discount price. I can not get this type of deal with the soon-to-be-released BullDozer because it's new technology and as stated earlier, for the discount price I only have to spend for the 1055t and mobo, I can care less about BD I've never owned an AMD setup but I will honestly admit that I've been very curious about it. All I do is some photoshop, 2D/3D autocad (no 3d rendering), and gaming. Will the AMD 6-core satisfy those needs? I know compared to Intel 6-core it stands no chance but will I still receive a good boost of performance once OC'ed? Will it be more fun than what I am currently using in my sig?

You can probably get a 1055t to higher clocks than your Q9400, and in photoshop and 3d CAD it would probably be noticable, especially with the DDR3 memory.

And of course new stuff is always fun

Since you do editing and alot of rendering go for it. If I were you I would go with the 1075T or the 1090T. If you have enough money for the 1090T or even 1100T , get it you gonna love it.

Heres a good review of the 1090T http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...nom2_x6_1090t/

Grab the 95w 1055T and have at it! These things are AMD's best overclocking chips. Be it 1055T 1075T 1090T or 1100T. You would most definitely notice a difference than what you're currently on.

yes go for it, you can still probably sell your current CPU+mobo for a good price until SB is released, then the used market will be flooded.

When i got my X6 back in April my mate had a Q9650 which he ran at 4Ghz. He ran these comparisons for me-

Link

Which also have my 1090T running at 4Ghz for comparison. Basically an X6 will easily beat an overclocked Q****, at stock settings.

As everyone else said, you will definitely have a nice performance increase. And while you're at it, pick up an X6 for me as well plz
