More brightness = better quality?

Thread Starter
I'm comfortable with 60-65% brightness on my semi-dim/ semi-bright room and i don't really want to go higher than that.

I noticed that if i put brightness to 85-90% the whites look more clearer, vibrant, colorful, and sharpness is in your face, but my room isn't that bright to begin with and I feel that it should be toned down. All monitor brightness does is give you a clearer interpretation, more light and a better detailed viewing of your screen, right? It doesn't give the white levels more texture or anything?

at 65%, the white isn't too intensive and it feels just about right, but I don't know if i should go higher to get the most of my monitor.

More brightness can wash out the whites though. You won't get the shades of white and your blacks may turn to grey.
