Trouble folding on both GPUs

Thread Starter
Hi all.

I just got a 9800 GX2 for folding, but I cannot it to fold on both GPUs. I am using this guide : http://www.overclock.net/folding-hom...gpu-guide.html
For some reason, if I rename the folder it's installed in, I get the error "F@H core download error (#?), waiting before retry.

What am I doing wrong? I went through the appdata folder and cleared everything I could find that had anything to do with f@h.

EDIT: I think I missed something that needed to be deleted. I just reinstalled and it picked up my last WU where it had left off.

Well, I have two clients, but one is a copy of the other. I did exactly like it said in the guide.

they don't have to be in separate directories(folders that is... the clients do)... i removed the folding@home folder completely from appdata and placed it on a different drive... also completely deleted foldin@home in program files after copying it(didn't want any of that stuff on my ssd)... opened it made a copy of the folding@home gpu folder... renamed both of them respectiveyl gpu1 gpu2... created a shortcut to both of the clients on the desktop one at a time to configure them... added the necessary flags and they worked

Yep. I've read through the guide at least 5 times, and I have done everything exactly like it says. So there is something really weird going on here. Note that I can get a single client working until I rename the directory it's located in. Once I rename it, all I get is the error.

That is EXACTLY what I have been doing. I've actually done it twelve times now, and still no luck.

EDIT: sorry, double post.

Okay, this is how I have mine set up. On the desktop, I have a folder. In this folder, there are folders for the unique clients. GPU1 is for the first GPU, GPU2 for the second and so on. In each folder, you have the client installed, but do not simply copy/paste the unzipped files between them. Unzip the 6.23 client in each folder separately.

Also, make sure it's 6.23, not the 6.32.

For each config, make sure you have the correct flags. For the first one, it would be -gpu 0 -forcegpu nvidia_g80, for the second it would be -gpu 1 -forcegpu nvidia_g80. If you don't got it like that, it won't download units.

you also need the -local to run them at the same time so they run in there respective folders
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Folding@home\\Folding@home-gpu\\Folding@home.exe" -local -gpu 0 -forcegpu nvidia_g80
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Folding@home\\Folding@home-gpu\\Folding@home.exe" -local -gpu 1 -forcegpu nvidia_g80

just change the path if it's different... and make sure when you do the properties for the shortcuts your putting the flags in the target text box and not the run in text box (i've done this )

Nope. I don't use that flag, never have. That's only if you're putting it in c:/folding, I believe. I have shortcuts on my desktop to them, that's all. Never had an issue with them.
