What is the official rating of your memory? I'm assuming 1600 9-9-9 1.65V? You may need to set the speed multiplier/timings/voltage manually.

Don't get SB. If you want performance, go Bulldozer or IB (Ivy Bridge. Intel's 1st 16-core processors coming out in the summer of 2011, right after Q1 where Bulldozer might beat SB. That's only for upgrades but this build's great.

Also, If I were going for bulldoser, do you reckon doubling ram (16GB) & a 2nd 5970 for ****s and gigz?

Oh crap!!! I thought your ram speed was 1600mhz.......... if it is 1333 then you are fine. Double the number you are seeing in cpuz and you will get (~)1333MHz.

lol, that makes sense now *slaps face*

Also, with radeons, is it common for AA/AAF glitches? (black patches where gaps in the leaves should be in Crysis)

Dont know about 5970, but i have faced similar issues with my 5770. Though the glitches are never too vivid/annoying to make me wanna kill AMD CEO. I have noticed tears in shadow edges in COD:black ops which were not present with my friends 460.
For further analysis on AMD's incompetence ( just kiddin ) do post some screens of the game highlighting the isssues you were talkin about.

Dual data rate; 675Mhz x2 = ~1350Mhz, you're running within stock specifications...sadly. I would like to see those settings overclocked to better than 1333 9-9-9 if possible.
