Hi, i recently noticed that my TV have this high pitch buzzing sound when its very bright images.

Searched through the internet without finding any solution for this problem. Anyone that have experienced the same problem with their tv?

For information:
- using HDMI only
- the sound from the tv is disabled, using my home theatre speakers.

Thanks for all answers

It's most likely noise from the transformer in the DC power supply in the TV. You need not worry because this is a common thing throughout all transformers and coils in general.

I know there is this sound on other devices. but its very annoying. And i have not noticed this sound before now. and if its from the DC, why is it not all the time?

Its only when the picture is very bright

If it's really loud, I would suggest you RMA/return the TV. But yea, I've had this problem on an Acer TV before ,and in the 3 years or more of owning it, has yet to fail.

Also, transformers tend to make more noise when load is applied to them. (Eg, a bright screen) This is caused by heat making the coils expand.

If you really feel like tinkering, you could replace the coils (Transformers and inductors) with higher quality ones, but that would require electronics skills.

Personally I would be a bit concerned, especially if nobody else with your tv has mentioned it.

It does indeed sound like the PSU is the culprit.

Maybe give LG a call and see if this is a known problem.

My guess would be the coils inside the TV are vibrating causing the buzzing sound. I heard applying nail polish, glue gunning it, or applying silicon-something stops the vibrating and thus eliminates the buzzing sound.
