Why are you downgrading to AM3, or side-grading to the i7 950? Did your i7 920 crap out recently or something?

You're not going to see ANY improvements over what you're on now with AM3 OR the i7 950. You should be running your i7 920 at 3.8GHz-4GHz at this point, for a performance increase. Simply clock it to 4GHz, and grab an SSD. You'll be like wowza!

I am fairly sure it will be dual-channel ram and as for prices see this chart:

Not an Intel fan boy(well maybe a bit of one).I would go with the I7 950 mainly because they overclock pretty easy along with the HT option. They also make some Great ppd folding over the AMD chips.Either way both would make great build.upgrades.

First part is known and the second is irrelevant.

Okay, seriously? You already have a i7-920. Do what everyone else is saying and overclock your 920. Or better yet, put all this money you are about to spend towards a 970 or 980X!

Both are great choices. Am3 will not be getting Bulldozer It will Be AM3+. But they claim your AM3 cpus will work in the Bulldozer mobos. Again both are great setups. IMO if it were me it would be about my budget that is how i would pick one. But again thats just me. I have had a i7 920DO setup. An my Am3 setup that i have now with a 1090T and overclocked they run all my programs and games the same.
