[BFBlog] Happy New Year!

But, since we want to start this new year with a big of a bang as we ended it, we are enabling Operation Hastings for the PS3 and Xbox 360 as of today!

So cancel all your plans, turn on your tv's, fire up your consoles and let the Battle For Hastings begin!

Source

As many of you know, PC won the Hastings challenge in just under a week with more points then both consoles combine. Console gamers soon began to find every excuse possible.

PC had three day head start! Even though every time they checked the Battle for Hastings page it said at the top they started counting on the 22 of December. It was suposed to be 21st but they waited b/c PS3 had problems. Nobody got a head start.

PC has hacks! Not nearly as much as they tried to make it out to be and a hackers aimbot kills doesn't do beep all to 69 million teamwork points. If anything it's a nuisance.

PC was boosting!
Looking into the server browser you can't find one single boosting server, maybe a knife server. But at the end of the day those don't do a dent on the score.

PC has more ticket per game and 8 more players! More tickets means longer games, so one 500 ticket game vs two 250 ticket games. 8 more players in one server makes 8 people less in another server.

PC Gamers have no life, girl friend, blah!
Funny because PS3 and XBOX 360 have more total hours played in the game then PC.

Why should the consoles benefit from the PC's dedication to this challenge? They should be made to wait until THEY pass the same trigger point! Oh, I forgot, can't have the consoles NOT getting anything before the PC! That just wouldn't fly would it or is that me just being cynical?

I find this retarted..I would of made the console kiddies work for the map just like I did. There just made cuz they didn't beat the PC for once..

Well OBVIOUSLY they would have got the map anyway... They developed a pc and console version of the map. Do you think they'll just let the console version that they spent time making just sit there and rot?

They should have finished the challenge though. It would have been done in a couple days most likely.

You're assuming BC2 has a constant population at all times, which obviously cannot be true. Whilst there is potential for more PC players than xbox or ps3 overall the fact that PC outgamed xbox and ps3 combined shows that this wouldn't have had that much of an impact.

I really want to see some sales statistics. Which platform sold the most/least of BC2:Vietnam copy's. As it stands BC2 sold less then XBOX 360 but more then PS3. If we were in the middle or the underdog for Vietnam sales then it would just solidify it into the bedrock that were better.

It's a bad omen for a news thread when it starts with four strawman arguments.

It's fair enough that they are releasing the map.

Pc won, so now there is nothing for the consoles to work towards. The competition was over as soon as PC became the successor. Also the fact that neither console are even close to unlocking the map. This has severely disgruntled the console guys when it was meant to be fun, their number one priority is to ensure they keep everyone happy, after all that's what makes you buy the next game. Alienating the console guys is not a way to churn out a profit.

From a PC gamer point of view I can't even see why you are annoyed. You won, they cried. VICTORY!

From a business point of view they need to turn those frowns upside down in regards to console gamers and this is the only real resolution to the problem.
