Computer performance crapped out with WinTV

Thread Starter
I recently installed a Hauppauge 1213 WinTV-HVR-2250 Dual Hybrid PCI-E TV Tuner Board with Media Center Remote Control and Receiver on my computer.

Up until I did this, my computer never lagged. I could box three instances of Everquest and surf the web at the same time and never really had any issues at all. Until now that is. Now, once I open up WinTV, my system lags like a mofo even if its a fresh restart and nothing else is running. Once I have had WinTV running, even after I had closed the application, in order to play EQ, I have to restart the computer.

The computer I am using is the one below and I also use dual monitors, but when WinTV is up, it only recognizes one monitor and the second monitor screen turns black.

Any ideas why the severe lag on the system? Any suggestions I can try to improve the performance and also any ideas how to get it to recognize both monitors? My goal was to be able to play EQ (one account only) and watch TV on the other monitor at the same time. (I hate missing my shows during raid times....)

Thanks!

Your trying to do all of that on a e6850 @ 3.0ghz and an 8800gt. Cause WinTV combines CPU and GPU, from what I can tell on my system, so I suspect that is the problem.

I kinda thought that may be the case with my Video Card. Any suggestions for an upgrade?

I'm not working atm... so a $200 or more is not in my league. I'd say probably around $100 - $130 range I could manage relatively soon.
