9800GTX's SLi vs HD 6870 worth it?

Thread Starter
Hey guys im just looking for a quick opinion requarding an upgrade that I am considering. Right now my system is listed below and im running 2x9800gtx's in Sli that i bought 2 years ago and they have been great cards. However i an considering changing to a smaller more compact single card rig (primarily the hd 6870) for its price point. I am also interested in the eyefinity and i suppose dx11 would be ok too. I cant really get a good estimate on performance difference between my two card now vs. the 9800gtx's. I want it to altleast be worth my while for the upgrade. Right now I can pick up an Asus 6870 OC for $239 which seems pretty reasonable.
What does everyone think?

Sell those two cards for like $150 each and then buy a GTX570.

The HD6870 would be a step down from what you have. A GTX570 would be an actual upgrade, and remember, NVIDIA has PhysX, CUDA, and 3D vision if you're interested.

Yes, you will see a noticeable performance increase over 2 9800GTX's, though 9800GTX's can be easily sold for $50-65, and you can use that money towards a 6870. Good luck

Jake, if you're really serious about eyefinity, you might want to step up to a 6950 just for the 2GB frame buffer.

Video RAM becomes very important at these mega resolutions. 1GB just isn't enough for 3 1080p monitors, or even 3 1680 x 1050s.

Really, that cheap? That's insane. HD4550 is $50 but it's 5 times slower. Makes no sense.
