Fresh Install: Storage Drive not Recognized by Windows

Thread Starter
Hey all ,

Got a crucial c300 128gb ssd for Christmas, and I finally got around to installing windows on it...

Previously, I had 2 spinpoint f3 drives in raid0, so i kept one to be used as a storage drive. I didnt format it or anything just literally took one spinpoint out and put the ssd in its place..

now when i am reinstalling windows, the only drive that comes up is the ssd...am i supposed to format the spinpoint or something for it to appear? I wanted to just create a small 200gb partition on it for games and storage..

im sorry if this is a noob question, but if i need to format it, how do i do it if windows doesnt even see it?

Yes, you need to format for windows to "see" it.

Right click My Computer > Storage > Disk Management. Right Click disk in question and format.

Fletcher Carnaby is correct. The hard drive is not initialized which is why Windows is not detecting it. Format the drive (which will initialize and assign a drive letter) and it will appear in My Computer.
