My 1156 Build Thus Far

Okay so far these are the things I have bought
Motherboard - AS Rock P55 Extreme 4
Power Supply - Kingwin 1000W Razer
RAM - GSkill 8GB (4x2)
Computer Case - Antec Twelve Hundred
Processor - Intel i7 870
------------
The things I'm getting later are:

Evga Geforce 470 GTX 1GB
HDD [ I'm debating on the size, I want to get a 750, but a 1TB is about the same price...I'm just not avid about having tooo much unless the HDD has good speed on it, so I can't decide ]

Heatsink - COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
DVD Burner - Asus
---------------------------

Any suggestions? at first I thought of returning the mobo, but can't since it's passed the 30 day (my fault as I misread and thought I had more than that). I was thinking of going with a different processor too, but eh I had the board and thought it wouldn't be a big deal since it can last me a long while anyways.

What I'm doing is gaming and will be doing school work on it as well, so I'm not picky about it. BUT I read somewhere about the sandy bridge, should I have them exchange my 870 for one of them? I mean I still got time to return and replace it...that is if newegg will swap it.

Well, first off: where did you buy your parts?

I bought all my parts at Newegg when they were having sales and specials.

@XtremeBlackout: I'll look into it, thought about that one too.

Swapping your i7 870 for SB would require buying a new board as the 1155 socket chips are incompatible with 1156 motherboards. Also, your i7-870 carries a CPU Replacement-Only policy from Newegg. This provides for the replacement of defective units, but I doubt they'll just let you swap it for a SB chip or return it for credit. You purchased before you posted, so you're kinda stuck with i7-870/P55 now.

As for your hard drive, go with a Samsung F3 Spinpoint 1TB model. It's perfect in terms of size, speed, and price. If you can stomach the price, I highly recommend purchasing a Sandforce 60GB SSD or one of Crucial's 64GB models for an OS drive.

I'm not a graphics guru, but I think that the 470 is no longer everyone's golden child. You may want to look at 570's, ATI 68XX or 69XX, or even a 460 SLI.

You also probably only need 4GB of RAM, and if you're planning to overclock you'll definitely want 2x2GB @ 1600 Mhz or so. I've had a great experience with my G.Skill sticks, but people rave about Mushkin and Corsair so they're worth taking a look at.
