So I bought TF2... - Page 5

I remember the good 'ol days when the soldier had 32 rockets in his pocket and there wasn't a cvar to disable criticals. The medic update dropped as I was starting an 8v8 match, had to postpone due to chaos lolz

scout isn't that hard if you have good aim, most CS players become Scouts for that reason, scout is all about the dodging and Meatshots 8)

but every class you really have to plan what you are going to do every ~15sec, and plans change in an instant based on what you see/know about your team and the opponents (who is alive/dead, where is each class etc.)

TF2 is as addicting as they come though

Yeah, I'd agree in general the original weapons are "better", but it's still pretty ridiculous how many weapons you have to know about to understand what's happening.
You just heard a trumpet in the distance! Then GLOWING ENEMIES attack! Are they invincible? Why isn't that demoman dying to your flamethrower? Why won't that sniper die to a fully charged headshot? What's with the sentry that went up in two seconds, and how did he just put down two of them?

All questions a league player could answer quickly, and all strategies that only work against someone who doesn't expect them, but that alone makes them powerful against new players with a limited cranial space.
BTW, anyone who doesn't recognize the Gunslinger as often better than the Wrench hasn't tried offensive engineer. (10:1 k/d ratio forever!)

TF2 used to be simple and a ton of fun. You should have played it when it came out. All these random additions and Mann-co thing is ruining the game.

Wow do I feel cheated. Between all this microtransaction crap and the fact that everyone plays a class that has splodeys or a heavy it's impossible to play as anything else too. Got 5 people launching grenades at you while others shooting rockets and while your trying to dodge you have the heavys huge spray of bullets.

I keep trying to force myself to like it but it's not working :\\ Wish I could get a refund
Play on a vanilla sever and play TF2 the way it was originally meant to be played. A much better game that way.

That tip on finding servers with low player caps sounds like good advice. I have pretty much the same problem as the OP with the game ATM, but I logged 140 hours on it before getting bored at least, haha.

Also does anybody know if there are servers that only contain the updates pre-WAR? I like the more vanilla TF2 but at the same time I like a few non-vanilla items (Axestinguisher, Kritzkrieg, maybe a few hats)

I really wish there were more servers that forced you to play with vanilla items only (possibly allowing hats...possibly not)

ya that was one of my issues. as I was learning with ieatfish another OCN guy came in and was deflecting my rockets, had no idea what was going on. was a big issues on a server I first played, had no idea what was going on, and people generally seem to not want to answer or respond to what you ask/say.

None the less, now that IEF showed me the ropes I think I'll get more into it.

The microtransactions im not too worried about in game, I just hate all it blasting me in the face buy this BUY this in the user interface.

That's the big key. If you can't adapt to what is going on then it won't be fun. But that element of the game ensures so many ways to play. What's that? A sentry nest? (bunch of sentries in a good spot) Do I go spy and try to sap them? Do I go demo and try to take them out on my own? Do we have a medic with an uber? Perhaps I could kill the engineer from far away as a sniper... The possibilities are always changing and when one thing doesn't work, you can try another.

I'm in a bad mood and just feel like taking it out on someone, unfortunately its you.

Stop talking about "the good old days" as if they were old.

Do you remember when tf2 had no crits, or when tf2 had friendly fire only? Making spies actually.. good?

Your "GOOD OLD DAYS NOSTALGIA" is when most people started picking up tf2, in no way can you talk like this without actually remembering the start of the game.

I also ran a tf2 server for about 2 years, was quite popular (up in the top 100, almost always 24/24)

TF2 is absolute crap right now, even the professional players fish refers to treat it as a joke, referring to it as "quake for bad players" (Carnage - coL)

I canceled the server and couldn't be happier I did, sold it to one of the dumb dumbs who thought he could do my job better than me for $300.. It shut down after 20 days after ownership transferred.

I'll agree with everything you said EXCEPT this, Natasha is a GREAT weapon for slowing down the fast paced action of other players. And as long as you can keep your crosshairs on them it is a very easy kill.
