Just tested this out on my iPhone 3GS.

The single use alarm failed to go off.

A alarm set to repeat daily did successfully go off.

Silly glitch that thankfully happened over New Year's when I suspect a vast majority of the world would not be waking up early anyway. I think I read this glitch should un-eff itself after January 3rd.

I still use a regular one.

I still use a normal alarm clock, and guess what, it didn't go off! Why would I want to get up early on New Year's Day?

Haha, one of my coworkers was late today because his iPhone alarm didn't go off and he told me about this. I thought it was pretty funny, but then I remembered I was opening on New Year's morning so my good humor didn't last long.

You can afford an iPhone/Android phone, but not a $20 alarm clock that's sure to work unless the power goes out or if you set it incorrectly.

Oh, yes.
Have been doing that for many years.
Boring ol' Symbian S60 wakes you even if you turn the power off from the phone. I trust it, but i did buy a sunrise simulating clock too in late 2009.

It seems that one sees new headlines about smartphones being retarded every week.
