after a wipe...hmmm, as spct stated, try a different pcie lane, but first, try re-seating the 6pin power connector.

Yea, I thought of that. I will do that tomorrow. My desktop is at home and I won't be there until morning. So I will do that and install the card in another computer and see what happens.

From your opening post:

So after dusting the whole case I turned on the PC and windows would not boot up. After I finally got it to boot up I looked on the Device Manager and it did not see the 5770, it only saw a standard graphics port (VGA) or something like that.

When u finaly got to device manager, was your screen at normal resolution or was 800x600, (or what ever default from asus chip is)

I don't remember. It was at a low resolution though so I believe it was at a default. I know I can't set it to 1920.1080 anymore. It just acts like there is cheap integrated graphics or something..

hmmm... what about going into bios and making sure your settings are PCI ?

Really strange to loose your card like that. Hopefully when u get a chance to plug it into another slot it will be there...

Good luck

Try and get a fresh set of drivers installed. Obviously this will need to happen with a fresh OS install, but I doubt you should of had to of gone this far to fix it. Re-seat it, different PCI lane.

Could always bake it

Also see if you have anyone local you can switch GPUs with for a few hours?

maximus, did you use a compressed air spray? Sometimes if you spray too close to the PCB it condenses right on it and could possibly short out something. If not, other people have stated good solutions.

GTX 580 is out...guess you are outdated as well.

Get off it and stop thread crapping.
I might bake it, but that is the last resort. I still have a year warranty on this.

It was an air compresser..probably too high PSI, but I looked and it was dry and it didn't knock anything off as far as I know. The PCB looks perfectly fine, but I guess something is wrong with it?
