i5 760 OC 4,6GHz help needed

Thread Starter
Hi, these days I'm OCing my new i5 CPU. As far as it went, I hit 4.4GHz wiht pretty much ease, (not tested if stable with prime 95) bit stable enough to do a 3D mark run. When I try to OC further I cannot receive a stable system, not even entering in windows.

So the rig is explained in the sig, the options I used for 4,6GHz are:

210 bclk * 22 = 4600MHz
1260MHz CL7 1,5V for the ram
Xtreame phase full power mode (enabled and auto, either won't work)
QPI AUTO (should it stay auto? should i pick the lower MHz option or the highest MHz option)?????

Voltages

CPU 1,55
PLL 1,90
PCH 1,15

Loadline (auto, should i disable this??????)
Spread spectrum and all the power saver stuff disabled.

I've read a lot for the OC of 1156 CPUs, but most of this shows things to 4,0 or 4,2GHz.

What could it be?? I've tried a lot of things, but I can't pass the logo win screen, after that it crashes

1.55v is too high for that cpu. Try to bring it down to 1.4v or below for around 4.2ghz. If you don't care about that and just want to benchmark or something, try lowering the multiplier and going for more bclk. Load-line should ideally be off, but many people run it on, and may help stabilize the overclock. You also did not list vtt voltage.

i know that 1.55 is high, but i wanted to be sure that the problem is not the CPU voltage.

On my mobo i can't find the VTT voltage regulator, i have only the listed one and IMC, I've read that it's also called QPI voltage, but i don't have that either. I can't find also the IOH V that should be putted to 1,3-1,35V

VTT, IMC, QPI= uncore voltage, just different names for the same voltage.

Drop the PLL. I'd suggest at most 1.8.

Drop PCH to 1.05.

It's most likely that uncore voltage keeping you from getting there. For me anything over 203 was highly VTT dependent.

I'd keep LLC off. In fact I did. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1468691

hmm, I've tried as you said, but it frozen during the win logo animation. Do you remember what was your other options?
Can it be that the PSU is not enough?? (I removed one GPU)

Keep it within .5v of the Dram Voltage for starters. Other than that as low as you can get it to boot and stay as stable as you want it. LOL. Most will tell you ~1.375v to 1.4v at the highest. Going over that is a risk so I hate to advise anyone to do that. 4.6 is pushing the edge a bit though. Using the 22 multi will help though. Just from what I've seen I'd be expecting 1.38v to 1.42v to get 210 X 22. All systems are different though so YRMV.

If that is the HX 520 you should be fine. Quality over quantity.

edit

With the 1333MHz RAM you will have to keep that memory multi cut down to 2:6 and might have to bring up the voltage on it.

yes indeed, it's the HX, but i'm upgrading to a 750W soon since i want to OC the system and keep the 2nd GPU running nice. So for smt like 210*22 on this asus 1,4V VTT should work???

I noticed that when I OC to 4,6 and the sys had to restart the core clock remained the same, so i went to monitoring menu of the BIOS and the temp of the CPU was at 60-65C, could it be that the temp of the CPU raise to 99C (max TJ) just with opening windows ??
