Amd build low budget room to grow

This is a budget build with the future in mind
Work on my iPod touch pc is dead
Amd Athlon II X2 260 77.84
Asus m4a79xt evo amd 790x. 107.84
Patriot sector 5 4 gb. 58.84
Seasonic 750w silver psu. 104.84
Seagate 500gb sv35.5 Sata 300. 52.84
Sapphire hd 6850. 199.84
Lancool pc-k60b. 78.84
DVD burner stripped from old pc
Windows xp 32 bit reused from old pc

This is the start it has to stay below $800.00
Parts purchased from place down the street
Prices are compared to ncix most parts lower or same at local store
I would like input on this build and lower price parts that will compete or be better

This will only be used for gaming

The future of this build when I get more money one year down the road

New X4 AMD or better CPU
Crossfire HD6850
Windows 7 64 bit
CPU cooler most Likely coolermaster v6 gt

This is what I am thinking I will only be playing older game Fear , Mass effect
And online game DDO and Vindictus a 32 bit os and begining pc will be more the enough
With future up grades I will be able to play lots of titles

LCD monitor is LG 20"

I want to stick to brands like asus for mother board unless there is better for price then what I picked
I will be looking at overclocking the cpu to see how it is done have never done so on past pc
will be seeing how far i can get with stock cooler
This will be just to play around with overclocking not to boost performance

Just as I would always ask, what are the memory settings? tongue.gif
Patriot Sector 5 is definitely not the best RAM out there, they have many kits requiring an unacceptable 1.65V for 1333 9-9-9 settings.

I've not looked at canadian prices but sure they're close.

Get the x4, its only $22 more
Get the samsung f3 1 tb, around the same price and alot faster
Get a cheaper case

Athlon II x2 250 (which is also a C3 revision) can be had for around $60, get that instead.
Seagate's 7200.12 can be had on NCIX for $40 (and even then you could get a full 1TB from Hitachi for $40)
Lancool's PC-K58 is the same as the PC-K60 (just doesn't have the top fans) and the K58W model (side window) can usually be had for the same price as the K58 and cheaper than any K60 models. I have the K58W, you can still mount the top fans by using fan screws + HDD rubber grommets, etc.

Yes that is the ram kit I will be getting I have read about the problems with this ram and amd
From where I am buying the next ram would be Kingston vr ram 2x2 gb $64.84 then G Skill Ripjaw $74.84
Both are 1333 MHz cl9
If I have the extra cash I will go G Skill
Can you tell what kind of problems I will have with the patriot ram
Thanks

X4 will not me that much help on old games with no multi threading
The x4 will be phase 2 of the build new os and the best x4 I can get
The drive I am looking at is a security camera hard drive so using that in a gaming pc it will never die and I do not need 1tb of space and I am thinking in phase 2 of getting another hd and doing raid 0
As far as case I have looked all over and this is on the top of my list the only other would be cooler master haf 922 and that cost more
I want a cast that has lots of air flow and will last me 6 to 8 years

Thanks

I look at ncix the lancool pc-k58b is $84.98 right now for some reason it is higher then the k60 also the k60 is out of stock when it does come in it maybe have a price change and go up
If it does go up In price I think it will still be cheaper then a k58 plus two 140 mm fans
I will keep looking at prices and stock to get the best deals

Thanks

HI.. you will regret not having a quad core for a gpu like that lol.. I would grab an Athlon II x4. If it unlocks AND is stable, then its cake but no matter what, you will still have a bomb cpu for around $100.

The middle C in the code CACYC means I have a Deneb/Phenom II and it will unlock the Lv 3 6mb cache. D = Propus. Gl with your not so budget build biggrin.gif

Peace:gunner:

Thanks for the info I will look into that code on the chips
After looking at it I am looking at the budget and quality of the parts
To get the best parts and stay below $800.

If it was a real budget build I would have to be below $600 and then I would have down grade and not be able to do phase 2
Thanks
