I bought a cheap set of insignia stereo speakers for my htPc so that i can listen to music in my bedroom (for the time being) without always having to turn my tv on. I control iTunes via the remote app and just don't find it necessary to have to have my tv on. But i have a few questions about usability:

First is there a way i can get my universal remote to control system volume so hat i can turn the volume up and down and mute when coming through my speakers? I use IMOn and it says the functions there it just isn't working, I don't know if it it is conflicting with the realtek drivers and how to stop it.

If i can't get the volume control to work is there a way i can control vis my remote where the audio comes from, hdmi or rear speaker out that way i can only turn the audio to the speaker on when i am ready to listen to them.
