[CVG]Buggy game purchasers 'entitled to refund' - Page 5

The other issue is where do you draw the line. Every game ever released has had something wrong with it somewhere, does that mean every game should be returned? As long as its going to be patched quickly then I don't see why you should be returning the game. The only time this should come into play is when you buy a game that is completely unplayable and the developers have gone out of business so the game will never be fixed.

@ Viridian

Please remember that £30 7-10 years ago is basically £40 now - especially with 20% VAT in a few days.
It means unplayable or not satisfactory.

Ie. If you can't get online like in BC2, then that it unsatisfactory and should be deemed a refund.

If your playing COD:BO and there happens to be a bug where you can't smash a window which isn't stopping you progressing and is a minor flaw, you shouldnt be able to refund that

Thats why a lot of retail stores the UK kick up a fuss about returning pc games and their return policies say they don't accept returns on opened PC games(which is wrong as the Sales of Goods Act Supersedes any return policy)

I had a load of issues with BC2 tbh more than I had with Blops and MW2 combined.

Sales of Goods Act applies to everything you buy in the UK and has been around longer than pc games

I refused to dl that 2GB patch. Its complete BS. Something has to be fundamentally broken/wrong with a game if it needs a 2GB patch

Its 7 days from the day after your purchase arrives. As long as the product is in a sell able condition IIRC they cannot refuse nor charge you a restocking fee or whatever.

I dont understand the sudden increase in price. We have folk like yourself who claim Warcraft games were $60 back in the day, etc etc, but I've never seen a PC game sell for more than £30 for the last 10 years, until Activision discovered COD4's potential for price hikes, release MW2 at £40/£60 and people bought it.
PC games are still 9/10 times less than £30 on release provided you are buying online, infact on amazon most are closer to £22-£25. I paid £25 for MW2 and Blops I got for £30

Warranty, in the UK, is just the hassle free period where you can get an item replaced or repaired. After that your Statutory Rights still apply. Any item bought must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality for 6 years. A PSU that fails to provide power isn't fit for purpose or of a satisfactory quality. For the record, if anyone cares, I did try to encourage OCZ to replace the item for me as it was just 20 days out of warranty but they refused. So, my case, unfortunately, is OCUK
OCUK, I feel for you really do. Sales of Goods Act also has a clause where a product must work for a reasonable length of time; this is in addition to the warranty. So for example if you had a Fridge with a one year warranty and it broke just outside. It would be covered by the SoGA as you would expect a fridge to last around 5 years(well I would).

EDIT: Forgot to mention. Those looking at refunds. With the SoGA if you have a faulty product and the fault occurs within 28 days you are entitled to a refund after 28 days you have to except an exchange first(if the problem still persists then you are entitled to a refund).

However I cannot remember if this means that you also have to contact the retailer within 28 days as well.

Two weeks from now;

"Popular game developer Bethesda has filed for Chapter 11, citing huge loss of revenue due to massive returns of every game they've ever released."
If you can play the single player game to the end without a hangup then it's not a bugged game, battlefield bad company 2 is not bugged, it plays all the way to the end, without an update.

Chapter 11, you get what back?

Would be nice to get a refund for Crysis Warhead from Steam since all the keys that were sold to the game while it was on sale a couple days back do not work.

If people could return FFXIV they would already be bankrupt (or at least that game would be).

Good thing I played beta and realized how terrible it was. Wonder how much money they are gaining/losing from that title now.

This will still benefit people elsewhere. If an entire market has the ability to take back a crappy game, all regions will benefit when developers fix their game for that one market.
